What is your favourite exercise?
My favourite gym exercise is probably a squat or a lunge, mainly because I’ve done them for so many years and had a lot of practise

What muscle do you consider to be the most important to be trained on?
I don’t think I could pick one, in football all my muscles are so important in making me an all round player

What do you think is the flashiest muscle?
Well it’s got to be biceps- shame I don’t have any haha

What is your favourite pre workout meal / snack?
My pre match meal is cheesy beans on toast religiously!

I train 5 times a week and sometimes that includes double sessions on certain days

How many times a week do you train physically / go to the gym?
I try and go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week but a lot of it depends on when we have games and how tough the training session’s been in the day time.

How do you deal with sugar / junk food cravings?
It’s difficult that’s for sure, but find something that works for you. Don’t completely cut something out but manage the junk food in moderation

What and when should I eat around my workouts?
For me I eat my pre-match 3 hours before kick off, usually involving a lot of carbs and then a top up snack or energy gel about an hour before kick off

What has been your best moment of being a footballer?
Well I’ve had a lot of amazing moments in my career so far and hopefully many more to come. I’ve won 4 league titles and very proud of all them but to be named captain of my childhood Manchester United was a dream come true.

What’s your favourite ever football match you’ve played in?
Two matches- we beat Finland 4-0 in the semi final of a u19 euros. The other one maybe a strange pick because the result didn’t go our way but the first ever Manchester Derby. We played in front of 31,000 people at the Etihad and my first game as captain.

What’s your favourite ever goal you’ve scored?
For sure the freekick I scored against Man City is up there. Our first derby win too!

In the men’s game, who did you support as a kid?
I’ve always been a Man United fan, that’s what makes it even more special to play for them now.
