Body Builder Ste Ryan Answers The Questions

Body Builder Ste Ryan Answers The Questions

A return to the Q&A Series sees body builder Ste Ryan answer all of your questions. Ste is a body builder who works with Dedicated Fitness XL based in Huyton, a town in the East of Liverpool. This gym is known in a lot more places than just this small industrial town though, as the once small studio has developed into a gym with many titles and accolades, such as bragging about becoming the world's biggest fully equipped Watson gym and possessing the biggest dumbbell rack in the world.

What is your favourite exercise?
I’d probably say the Military Press. Because it works so many different and important muscles, it great for the likes of the triceps and shoulders, and I think that it really helps with overall general strength because of it being a dynamic-esque pushing motion.

What muscle do you consider to be the most important to be trained on?
Core. It helps to keep the whole body strong and gives you the strength to hold the rest of your body. If you had big shoulders for example but a weak core, your body would struggle to carry it and would damage your body.

What do you think is the flashiest muscle?
Bicep! Everyone sees the biceps as the muscle to show off and probably the muscle I see tensed the most when comparing muscle sizes and someone’s trying to show off.

What is your favourite pre-workout meal / snack?
My Fresh Box chicken and new potatoes with veg and a rice crispie squares bar. The chicken being white meat helps give me energy as well as the potatoes being high in carbs, then with the sweet treat of the rice crispie squares bar being sugary for energy as well, seems to work well for me.

What is your favourite MFB dish?
One of the curries by far – genuinely can’t decide which one though.

What is your favourite cheat dish?
Dominos pizza easy. It’s just a shame it’s so bad for you!

How many times a week do you train?
5 days a week minimum. And that’s just going to the gym and lifting weights etc, so I’ll try and do other things like go for a walk and that when I’m not at the gym.

How do you deal with sugar / junk food cravings?
Usually go for a sugar free alternative such as jelly or have a protein bar. I don’t think starving yourself of these cravings help you, and think that you will eventually give in and have a lot more than you would do if you just moderate your intake.

What and when should I eat around my workouts?
I find it best to eat an hour before and within an hour after you train. To fuel your workout then to recover and grow your muscles

What’s the best diet for weight loss?
It really is whatever diet you know you can stick do as everyone’s different. If you try one of these flash overnight diets then go back to eating rubbish you won’t get anywhere, consistency really is key when it comes to trying to lose weight and you need to make sure you’ll stick to it for a longer period of time, so make sure it’s doable.
